Hello Families,

Thank you to all those who joined us for school conferences. Our teachers love what they do and love to talk about your children and their progress. If you did not book with your teacher, it is not too late to schedule an appointment.

Holiday Concert: Grades Kindergarten, 1, 2, & 3

We are excited to welcome families on December 5 at 6pm for our Winter Concert. This year, our Kindergarten to grade 3 students will be performing songs and dances related to the text "The Snowy Day" by Ezra Jack Keats. For many of the songs, the students themselves were involved in creating actions and words to go with the music.

Please take your child to their classroom by 5:40 pm so students can get ready and then take your seat in the gymnasium. If your child is in Kindergarten, have them wear black or dark colours to match their penguin costume. All other grades are encouraged to dress up in their choice of attire. We want our students to feel comfortable in what they are wearing for this special occasion.

After the concert, children are to be picked up at their classrooms, so that we know that everyone is safely matched with their parents/ guardians. Do not take your child home, without connecting with their teacher. There will be a dress rehearsal at 10:45 am on December 5. Families are welcome to attend the dress rehearsal.

Spirit of Generosity

I have heard from families in our school community, looking to share the spirit of generosity as we approach the winter holiday season. I also know that there are families in our school community who could greatly benefit from this support.

If you are interested in helping a family in need, we will be accepting grocery gift card donations (Superstore/ Walmart). These cards will go directly to Buchanan families, so they may purchase gifts or food for their families this holiday season. Feel free to drop them off at the school at a time that is convenient for you.

School Council

There will be no meeting in December

Book Fair

Get ready! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming our way (YAY!). Choosing their own books empowers kids and inspires them to become Bolder, Prouder, and Stronger Readers.

Here’s what you need to know about the Fair, which will take place at our learning commons from Dec 2 – Dec 6 (during school day), a quick reminder to send money with your kids so they can be able to purchase their preferred books. Also, parents are welcome to the fair on Dec 5 after school from 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. All purchases benefit our school and earn Scholastic Dollars that can be redeemed for books and educational resources for our classrooms and school library.
