Welcome Back Pancake Breakfast 

·       Friday Sept. 8 from 8:00am to 8:45am Buchanan School will be hosting a free pancake breakfast for all students and their parents. Food will be served on the west courtyard and seating will be at the tables beside the play structure. 

School Start Time: communication error from last week’s message 

·       In last week's parent communication, I made an error. I stated that students in grades 1-6 regular program start school at 9:00am. This year Buchanan School starts at 8:55am not 9:00am. Please try your best to have your students arrive on time or slightly before the start time. If they are late, please have them go to the Northeast Door on Center Street and check in at the office before heading down to their class.    

Breakfast Club:  

·       Starting Monday September 11 Buchanan will begin offering a breakfast club for all students who are interested in participating.  

·       The Breakfast club will run Monday-Thursday mornings in the learning commons from 8:25am-8:45am.  

·       Breakfast club participants must enter and exit the school via the northeast office doors. 

·       Ms. Akhter will offer students a cold breakfast consisting of a protein, produce and grain item.   

·       The program will have a cap of 30 students for the initial month of September.

School Staff:  

• I am very excited to welcome back our returning staff and introduce those that are new to Buchanan. The list below indicates all of the teachers and support staff that will be working very hard this year to support your students' growth and learning.  

Setting up your MyCBE account: 

·       https://sis.cbe.ab.ca/public/home.html  

·       The CBE uses several technologies and tools to support parents/guardians in paying school fees, viewing report cards and booking parent/teacher conferences. These tools are accessed through the MyCBE account. If you have not done so already, please try to set up your MyCBE account as soon as you can. The link above will take you to the entry page. If you require support completing this process, feel free to call the school (403-777-6260) and set up an appointment time with Ms. Hoang, our Administrative Assistant, to complete this process.  

School Council / Parent Society 

• The Buchanan School Council will be hosting a welcome back to school pancake breakfast for all students and their families on Friday September 8, from 8am-8:45am. 

·       If you are interested in volunteering to help please contact the school office to sign up 

·       The first meeting of the month will take place online at 12:00pm on Monday September 18.  

Community News 

·       Highland Mennonite Brethren Church  

o   On Sunday September 10 the Church will be hosting a free community BBQ. Fun events like clowns, bouncy castle and a host of other activities will be offered for all community members and their families. See poster link for details.  

·       Free Friday afternoon after school program  

o   The church runs a program called Jumpstart, which is free for interested Buchanan students from 2pm-4pm. Check out the attached poster and registration form if you are interested in enrolling your student. Enrollment is limited so act quickly by emailing Jennah Park. The program is set to start Friday September 15.
