Gratitude 

·       A big thank you to all the parent council members and volunteers for setting up and running the Halloween Dance and getting pumpkins for each classroom. A bigthanks to DJ Matt who had the party hopping all evening long.  

·       Thank you to the EES students and staff for hosting the safety assembly on Tuesday. 

Breakfast Club:  

·       The Breakfast club will run Monday-Wednesday this week.   

Field Trips 

·       Grade 5 & 6 students are off to Camp Chief Hector this week for outdoor school.  

Remembrance Day Assembly: Wednesday Nov. 8 

·       At 11:00am on Wednesday Nov. 8 the students from grades 1 & 2 will host the Remembrance Day Assembly. All parents and family members are welcome to attend. Please arrive between 10:45am and 10:55am and enter the school using the northeast entrance.   

Photo retakes: Wednesday Nov. 8  

·       Open to all students who missed the previous photo day at school, or if you would like to retake a new photo. No registration required, please inform your students’ teacher and let your student know, and they will send them for retakes when their class is called down to the photographer. 

School Fall Break:  Nov.10-14

·       Students will have a fall break from November 10 – 14. Classes will resume on Wenesday November 15  

School T Shirt/Hoodie for sale: 

·       T shirt youth size: M, L:  $13 each 

·       T shirt adult size: M, L:  $13 each 

·       Hoodie adult size: S, M, L: $30 each 

·       Buchanan School is offering all students and families the opportunity to purchase Buchanan Bear Wear, T-Shirts or Hoodies. The prices are listed above. A clothing order will be submitted at the end of November. Which means that it will arrive at the school in the middle of December before we head out on Winter Break.  Please call the office to place your order with Ms.Hoang.  

School Council / Parent Society 

·       Next School Council Meeting 

o   Scheduled for Monday Nov. 20, 2023, at 12:00noon

·       Volunteering at Buchanan?  

o   In order to volunteer at Buchanan School, you need to have an updated police information clearance. The school council is willing to cover the cost of this service if you volunteer at the school. The Police clearance Record is valid for up to 5 years, if you already have one on file and valid, you do not need to reapply, please contact the office to clarify and for more information. Community News 

·       Highland Mennonite Brethren Church  

·       Free Friday afternoon after school program  

·       The church runs a program called Jumpstart, which is free for interested Buchanan students from 2pm-4pm. Check out the attached poster and registration form if you are interested in enrolling your student. Enrollment is limited so act quickly by emailing Jennah Park.
