I am grateful for all the hard work and hours of extra time Ms. Meagan and our parent council members put into supporting our students at Buchanan school
Thank you to our Mount Royal Student Teachers and Educational Assistants for their work during their practicums fostering strong relationships with our students and supporting them in learning.
Thank you to our volunteers who attended the field trips this week and helped out at the bottle drive.
Winter Concert: Thursday Dec. 7, 1pm & 6pm
We will be hosting the winter concert on Thursday Dec. 7. There will be two performances, an afternoon concert at 1:00pm and an evening concert at 6:00pm.
The title of this year’s performance is “The Adventures of Bear and Chickadee”.
Please follow the link below to purchase your tickets. Each family can order a maximum of two tickets for the evening or afternoon performance. You can request more tickets, up to four more, by ordering wait list tickets for the afternoon or evening performance. We will do our best to accommodate all requests. Notification to families about wait list tickets will come from the office by the end of the day on Wednesday Dec. 6. Please order your tickets by clicking on the link below

Volunteers are needed to help out during the winter concert. Please sign up by clicking this signup genius link . Without volunteers, some of the offerings will not be able to happen (like crafts and hot chocolate!) - we thank you for the generous donation of your time
Pictures with Santa: Thursday Dec. 7 5:00pm-5:45pm
Santa will be making a special stop at Buchanan School on the night of the winter concert
Between 5:00pm and 5:45pm families will have the opportunity to have their pictures taken with Santa on a drop in schedule
Please bring your own device, phone, ipad etc. for Santa’s elves to use to take your picture with.
Buchanan Book Fair: Dec. 4-7
Our annual Book Fair will run from Monday - Thursday in the library.
Beginning on Monday each class will have an opportunity to come down to the book fair and look at all the books that are available for purchase.
Books and other items are available for purchase all week.
The book fair will also be open during the Winter Concert to provide parents an opportunity to make purchases
The Giving Tree Campaign 2023
Buchanan School has a number of students that are in need of a small holiday gift like a stuffy, soccer ball, fidgets, and/or board games.
The Giving Tree Campaign is an attempt to connect those who can donate a new gift to a child in need.
If you would like to participate as a donor in the Giving Tree Campaign, please visit the following weblink.
It will take you to the sign-up genius where you can view all the gift items that are requested. You can then sign up to purchase one or more of those items. Once you have purchased the gifts, please drop them off at the school’s office before Dec. 8, 2023. The school will then get the gift you purchased into the hands of the family/student in time for the winter break.

The School Council offers Kernels Individual Snack Bags of Popcorn for $3 each bag. Please send EXACT money. Order forms and money collected deadline will be 9:30am Wednesday Dec 6, 2023
Volunteering at Buchanan?
In order to volunteer at Buchanan School, you need to have an updated police information clearance. The school council is willing to cover the cost of this service if you volunteer at the school. The Police clearance Record is valid for up to 5 years, if you already have one on file and valid, you do not need to reapply, please contact the office to clarify and for more information.
