Learning Commons at the CBE
Today’s learners cannot imagine life without the internet and supporting technology. The concept of the traditional library is changing to include technology, online tools and spaces for collaboration and exploration.
School Literary Materials Selection
Related to Ministerial Order (#034/2025), Standards for the Selection, Availability, and Access of School Library Materials, CBE has published an administrative regulation AR3051: School Literary Materials Selection. Families and community members can request a review or reconsideration of a literary resource in a school's learning commons by completing the School Library Materials Reconsideration Challenge Request through their local school.
CBE also has an eLibrary online tool available to families, students and staff, which is an online catalogue for all CBE school libraries with detailed information on books, DVD’s and other resources that are available to borrow.
Additionally, parents and legal guardians are welcome to review classroom library collections by contacting your child's school.
Come and check out the new fish in the library. We have new fish in the little tank in the back and in the big tank by the window. Can you count how many fish in all? Check very closely as some might be hiding in the rocks. Do you know what kind of fish they are? Learning Commons is very busy with people using the maker space, learning commons for reading groups and math groups. We will be having another Book Fair coming in May from the 14 to the 17 . Save the dates and come and check out the books.
Maker Space
We are excited to announce the development of a Maker Space in our school! A Maker Space is a flexible, community space, where groups and individuals can gather to explore, and experiment to further and deepen their own learning. Design thinking, problem solving, and collaboration are emphasized. Within this space students can expect to find a full sized Lego wall, work benches, real tools, robotics, technology, circuits and so much more! Please keep an eye out for notices requesting special items to be donated to make our learning possible.
